Crow encounter..

No!....NOT THAT CROW...

yano the black crows?...the birds.

Well i was in a op shop up Barossa way and was happy having a rumage through the moth eaten and BO smelly clothes when a huge black crow flew in the door!!!....*BEEP*

unfortunatly for me...ive seen the most recent Resident Evil movie...which if you've seen it you would remember the scenes of huge flocks of crows that have happen to be 'zombie' crows..who have been infected because of feasting of infected flesh!...one of the characters gets mauled to death by these evil red eyed crows.

NOW. you understand the fear that came over me...and mum (who i hid behind).

As you know most OP shops are run by little old ladies sipping tea and talking about the olden days, WELL this op shops different!...still the old ladies...but this one has bred the tough country nanna types...whys this you say ...

Whilst me and mum were trying to get as far away from the crow as possible, the nanna quite confidently said " Its only a baby the poor thing" lunged for the crow ...grabbed it legs and turned it upside down and rushed it outside...not without a struggle though...it was happily mauling nannas hands and 'crowing/squarking'.

So im not sure its a great idea to visit that Op shop...said nanna maybe infected?
...and when we left that crow was still hanging around the front ...happy to sit upon the clothes racks.

The Urban Art Pod.

ok, so im in this group/training called the Urban Art POd.
kinda training to be a artist who creates public art!.

heres what i created on our first day...


Theyre called 'Micro-climates' little creations for the public space..that can grow, just hang out , been seen or just un-noticed!
We Created them with junk, the kind of stuff you'd find at kindy...but with a lot less snotty gobbles and tantrums to go with it.

Il be adding more stuff along the way....

the night where pumpkins are used for something other than making soup...

Summer Cherry Festival..09

Ive just been employed as the 'Summer Cherry Festivals' face painter!!.

It will be held at The Gov Hindmarsh on the 10th January 09. 2pm-11:30pm!

Music- Cherries - Fun kiddie stuff!!.

The festival organiser is looking for some more kid entertainment..or circus acts!.
So if u have a circus act...can juggle?.make balloon animals.?.ride a bike upside down whilst sipping a cup of tea.? ur it!. They havent got much funding for the festival, but its a great opportunity if ur an independant act!. :)

They're inspired by henna designs and made with black felt tip pen on canvas.

So ive decided to make a blog!
.. a art blog!.
Not that i have enough to keep me busy on the net already..man!..so many passwords to remember!.

anyways...

So i guess il start with this >

I have completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a major in Painting and minor in Photography at the South Australian School of Art, Unisa.
Through out art school I have been involved in various projects such as the Opening Parade for the Fringe Festival in 2004. I worked along side community groups and Knee High pupperteers to design and create parade floats and also employed by Carclew Youth Arts Centre as an artist for the City Site Project in 2005. Ive been involved in designing and creating a mural . In early 2006 I was given the opportunity to attend Womadelaide as one of Soulshine.com.au festival photographers. Also in 2006 I took a Face Painting coarse at the WEA in Adelaide and worked as a Face Painter at the Royal Adelaide Show and other face painting jobs at the Sky City Casino-New Years, private and public events in and around Adelaide and the Barossa. I was also lucky to be invited to watch and help Adelaide's famous body artist Emma Hack for preparation for an upcoming exhibition. In early 2007 I started running my own small business as an Artist and Face Painter, with the help of NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme). I also like to dabble with Tie-dying, Henna Tattoos and other crafty projects!.
